Virgin Voyage On 16 Nov 2014! China Goddess 2 is one of the newest 5 star cruises launched on Nov. 16th, 2014. With the theme "Chinese Civilization, Three Gorges & Goddess Culture", the cruise is like a moving Three Gorges culture exhibition center. On the whole ship, you will enjoy not only the spectacular Three Gorges scenery, but also the culture and stories of the China Goddess.
Day 1: Australia – Hangzhou
Today fly from Australia (prices are based on Sydney and Melbourne, add $300pp for Brisbane flights) to Hangzhou, China. Upon arrival pick up from Hangzhou International Airport and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: Hangzhou - Wuxi (Breakfast) This morning start this amazing day with a small boat ride on the West Lake another UNESCO World Heritage Site, which reveals the ethereal beauty of Hangzhou's willow draped islands. Hangzhou is considered the tea capital of China, so a visit to the city just isn't complete without a trip to a local tea house. Make a special visit to the Tea House at Meijiawu Tea Village located at the hinterland of West Lake Park which is considered one of the most important Longjing tea productions in China. Enjoy the natural environment and beautiful village scenery while learning more about their special tea culture and how to appreciate the sophisticated taste and aroma of Longjing tea. At the Tea House, learn how to make the Longjing Tea including tea leaves picking, frying and tasting. This afternoon drive to Wuxi (Approx. 2 hour coach ride).
Day 3: Wuxi - Suzhou (Breakfast) This morning visit Li Lake Park and view Taihu Lake, the second biggest sweet water lake of China. Make a stop at Freshwater Cultured Pearl Factory and drive to Suzhou (Approx. 1 hour coach ride). Suzhou, which dates back to 514 BC, is sometimes called the "Venice of the East". Visit Shan Tang Street, which has always been regarded as the first name of Suzhou ancient streets. It has a long history of about 1,100 years, its layout and architecture are the best to represent the characteristics of Suzhou's old alleys, and it has connections to many ancient Chinese celebrities and anecdotes.
There is an option to take a cruise along the Grand Canal (at your own expense) to view life along China’s ancient waterway.
Day 4: Suzhou - Shanghai (Breakfast) Today visit the famous Lingering Garden. The Lingering Garden is a renowned classical Chinese garden and is recognised with other classical Suzhou gardens as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. China is known for its silk, so of course a visit to the Silk Spinning Factory is in order. Afterwards drive to Shanghai to visit the famous Bund (Approx. 2 hour coach ride). Shanghai is divided by the Huang Pu River into eastern and western sections. Modern mega high rises are seen on the eastern side while traditional European style architecture may be seen on the western side. The Bund is a five-block riverfront promenade with many of Shanghai's banks and trading houses. Tonight there is an optional activity to watch a superb and thrilling Chinese Acrobatic Show “ERA: The Intersection of Time” (at your own expense).
Day 5: Shanghai This morning stepping back in time at the Shanghai Museum with more than 120,000 art objects on show. (Please note for the MAY DATES ONLY you then visit Tongrentang to learn more about Chinese traditional medicines) Enjoy some free time at leisure this afternoon or join an optional half-day tour of Shanghai (at your own expense) including Yu Garden, believed to have been built in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago. The exquisite layout, beautiful scenery, and the artistic style of the garden architecture have made the garden one of the highlights of Shanghai. Other attractions include Xintiandi, Old Town and Nanjing Road. Tonight, why not join the optional “Night Cruise on the Huangpu River” (at your own expense) and complete the night sailing the tranquil waters of Huangpu River.
Day 6: Shanghai - Yichang (Breakfast) (High speed train experience) After breakfast transfer to Shanghai Railway Station for a high speed bullet train ride to Yichang (Approx. 6 hour train ride). You will be met at Yichang Railway Station by your tour guide and transferred to the China Goddess 2 Cruise Ship, where you will begin your memorable 4 night cruise down the Yangtze River.
Day 7: Yangtze River Cruise, Three Gorges Dam (Breakfast, Luch & Dinner) Start the morning with a buffet breakfast on board in the presence of the beautiful Three Gorges Dam. Spend your day out on an optional excursion or relax on board the cruise ship. This evening you will return to the ship and attend the Captain’s Welcome Banquet and enjoy the evening entertainment with a Chinese dancing ball. Optional Activity: Excursion - Three Gorges Dam Site. The Three Gorges Dam Site is one of the largest construction projects undertaken by mankind and is the biggest hydropower project in the world.Optional Activity: Excursion - Tribe of the Three Gorges You may also want to visit the Tribe of the Three Gorges, the only large scenic spot that has not been influenced by the Three Gorges Dam project, which showcases the abundant Ba Culture and Shu Culture.
Day 8: Yangtze River Cruise, Lesser Three Gorges (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) Today, you may choose to embark on the exciting optional excursions or opt for a leisure day on board the ship. The afternoon will see you continuing to cruise into the western section of Xiling Gorge. Optional Activity: Excursion – Lesser Three Gorges Explore the Lesser Three Gorges, a shining pearl hidden in remote mountains. You will leave your cruise ship and board smaller vessels to sail through the narrower and breathtaking Lesser Three Gorges region, lined by sheer cliffs and mountains. Along the Yangtze River, you will appreciate the beauty of the Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge and visit the ancient plank road, Mengliang Stairway and the Hanging Coffins. Optional Activity: Excursion – White Emperor City You may also choose the optional excursion to visit the White Emperor City, an ancient temple that is located atop Baidi Mountain on the northern bank of the Yangtze River in Fengjie County.
Day 9: Yangtze River Cruise, Shibaozhai (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) Today you will pass through the mountains of Eastern Sichuan. Participate in the optional excursion or relax by the pool, pamper yourself with a massage and make the most of the last full day on your ship. Tonight, enjoy the farewell dinner and pack your bags in preparation for disembarking tomorrow. Optional Activity: Excursion – Fengdu Ghost City Today’s optional excursion is the Fengdu Ghost City to see why it’s regarded as the “City of Ghosts.” The temples built on Ming Mountain depict the punish instruments and demon paintings, demonstrating the Chinese people’s imagination of hell.
Day 10: Chongqing - Australia (Breakfast) This morning you will disembark the cruise ship in the magnificent city of Chongqing. Transfer to Chongqing Airport for your homebound flight. You may also join an optional introductory tour of Chongqing including a special visit to the famous Chongqing Zoo to see giant pandas prior to your homebound flight (at your own expense).
Day 11: Arrive in Australia
Important notes from the cruise company:
1. The above itinerary is subject to change without prior notice due to weather conditions, water level, navigation, seasonal and other operational conditions.
2. If there is additional time, several optional shore excursions may be organized according to sailing conditions. Fees for optional shore excursions are not included in the cruise package.
3. In case of maintenance on the Three Gorges Dam ship locks, or if the flow of the river’s upper reaches exceed 40,000 cubic meter per second during flood season, our ships will instead embark and disembark at Maoping pier, west of the ship locks on the outside of Yichang. We will be responsible for the transfer between Maoping and Yichang.
