Itinerary

Day 1 – Windhoek

Join your tour group at the hotel. Lying in a fertile valley and surrounded by the spectacular mountain ranges of Eros and Auas, this city has a vibrant and cosmopolitan feel.

Day 2 – Kalahari Basin

As we wend our way south of the city through some of the most picturesque ranching land, you might have your first sightings of yellow-billed hornbills or troops of baboons foraging in the undergrowth before arriving at the town of Rehoboth. Heading inland, we arrive at our lodge for the night in the Kalahari Basin, close to the edge of the Kalahari Desert. Late this afternoon, we embark on our exciting nature drive.

Day 3 – Sossusvlei

We make our way to the Namib Desert, an area sometimes referred to as the ‘dune sea’ for its ever-moving and changing scenery. As you approach this almost otherworldly landscape, you’ll be amazed at the size of some of the dunes.

Day 4 – Sossusvlei – Sesriem

This morning calls for an early departure by coach for our Sossusvlei excursion – a highlight of our Namibia tours. After a short drive, we’ll board 4WD vehicles and embark on an unforgettable experience exploring the dunes, some of which are said to be the world’s highest. We continue to Sesriem Canyon, a fascinating geological feature, before returning to our lodge for a relaxed afternoon.

Day 5 – Swakopmund

This morning, we move on to Namibia’s premier coastal resort, the colonial town of Swakopmund. The bizarre Moon Valley flanks the Swakop River. These vast gravel plains are home to the unique Welwitschia mirabilis plant, some of which are more than 500 years old. After an orientation tour of the city, we’ll arrive at our hotel.

Day 6 – Swakopmund

This morning, we head to Walvis Bay for our exciting marine cruise. Keep watch for birds and sealife whilst enjoying oysters and champagne. This afternoon, take an amble around this delightful seaside town, feasting your eyes on the fine colonial architecture, quaint shops, and tempting coffee shops.

Day 7 – Twyfelfontein

We embark on our journey north along the windswept coast to Henties Bay and Cape Cross for a visit to the seal colony. We then continue along the Desert Highway into the heart of Damaraland. We’ll arrive around lunchtime, and after time to freshen up, we’ll enjoy a visit to one of the largest collections of rock paintings and engravings in Africa. Some of the rock art sites can even be found around the lodge.

Day 8 – Twyfelfontein – Etosha Region

This morning we visited the Petrified Forest. The remains of tree trunks here are estimated to be about 200 million years old. We continue to our lodge south of the renowned Etosha National Park, where the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 9 – Etosha National Park

We make our way into Etosha National Park for a full day’s game viewing from our coach. Throughout the day, we’ll visit various water holes, where you can watch the animals in their natural environment. The park has large herds of wildlife, some of which are unique to Southern Africa, such as the black rhino, zebra, lion, giraffe, and a variety of antelope species to name but a few.

Day 10 – Otjiwarongo

We head south to Otjiwarongo, where we’ll stay for two nights in the heart of a private game reserve. A variety of animals and species call the reserve home, including an impressive variety of birds. We’ll arrive early afternoon, just in time to head out in open 4WD vehicles on an exciting game drive in search of wildlife.

Day 11 – Otjiwarongo

This morning, we head out again into the reserve to spot some of the residents. Several prides of lion reside here, as well as giraffe, elephant, and the comical ostrich. Look out for the flash of wings from a lilac-breasted roller or a glossy starling. The afternoon is free.

Day 12 – Otjiwarongo – Windhoek

We leave the reserve behind and head back to Windhoek for an overnight stay.

Day 13 – Windhoek
