Itinerary
Day 1 – Fly to Buenos Aires
Fly to Argentina’s eclectic capital, Buenos Aires. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax or begin your explorations before meeting your fellow travellers at dinner this evening.
Day 2 – Explore Buenos Aires
Tour the city and its fascinating neighbourhoods, with highlights including the ornate Recoleta Cemetery and a ‘tango in the park’ experience, where you can watch couples dancing the tango and enjoy a live bandoneon performance outdoors in a lush city park. Dinner tonight will be at a traditional restaurant and full of typical Argentinian dishes and flavours.
Day 3 – Visit the Pampas
Spend the day just outside the city on the vast, fertile grasslands known as the pampas, on a traditional estancia (ranch). Here you’ll get some insight into the life of a gaucho, and after a typical Argentinian asado (BBQ) lunch, there will be a fun folklore show. This evening, experience the passion of a tango show with dinner.
Day 4 – Travel to Iguazu
Fly to Puerto Iguazu. Wander trails around the mighty Iguazu Falls, which straddles the border between Brazil and Argentina, getting a closer look at some of the smaller falls as well as a fantastic overview of the sheer size, power and magnificence of the falls as a whole.
Day 5 – More Iguaçu
Cross the border into Brazil. Head straight into the beautiful nature of Iguaçu National Park and see the falls from a different perspective. Board a glass elevator down to a viewing platform from where you can get an excellent view of the Garganta do Diabo (Devil’s Throat), the waterfall’s most dramatic cataract.
Day 6 – Board the Azamara Quest
Fly from Puerto Iguazu to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s Cidade Maravilhosa. Head straight to the city’s most iconic sight, the huge statue of Christ the Redeemer that sits at the summit of the Corcovado. Transfer to Rio’s port and board the Azamara Quest. The afternoon is free to explore the ship’s facilities and settle in. Later you’ll be picked up and transferred to the Sambadrome, home of the world-famous Rio Carnival, for an unforgettable evening.
Day 7 – Cruise – Rio
After the excitement of Carnival, spend the morning relaxing and exploring the Azamara Quest. Throughout your cruise, when your ship comes into port, there will a range of excursions available to help you explore each destination. These excursions are at your own expense and are bookable on your cruise reservation. This afternoon, your cruise will begin, heading northwards along Brazil’s coast.
Day 8 – At Sea
Spend the day enjoying to facilities and activities available on the Azamara Quest.
Days 9 – 10 – Cruise – Salvador
Brazil’s first capital, established by the Portuguese in 1549, Salvador de Bahia today is a hub of Afro-Brazilian culture. Wander streets of colourful historic buildings, feel the local rhythms and enjoy the sights of Pelourinho, the historic heart of the city.
Day 11 – At Sea
Enjoy a show, take a swim, find a peaceful spot to read a book – there are so many options to consider on this day at sea.
Day 12 – Cruise – Natal
The laidback city of Natal, backed by towering sand dunes, offers beautiful beaches and plenty of outdoor adventures to try.
Days 13 – 14 – At Sea
Relax onboard with two days at sea.
Day 15 – Cruise – Belem
The gateway to the Amazon, Belem is full of colourful old mansions, bustling markets and fascinating museums. Explore the city or head into the Amazon for an extraordinary rainforest experience.
Day 16 – At Sea
Enjoy some of the many activities onboard the Azamara Quest today.
Day 17 – Cruise – Isle Royale, French Guiana
Port on Isle Royale. Once the administrative centre of a French penal colony, the island today is a fascinating mix of nature and history. Explore deeper to encounter unique flora and fauna, including monkeys, iguanas and agoutis.
Day 18 – At Sea
Make the most of the sunshine of the Tropics on deck today.
Day 19 – Cruise – Tobago
Port at Scarborough, Tobago part of the Caribbean dual-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Away from the spectacular beaches there is plenty of rich culture and history to explore, or you can simply soak up the relaxed Caribbean vibes.
Day 20 – Arrive in Bridgetown
Disembark the Azamara Quest in Bridgetown, Barbados. You’ll be transferred from the port to your hotel where the rest of the day is yours to spend as you wish.
Day 21 – Explore Barbados
A tropical island that has it all, Barbados boasts soft sand beaches, turquoise bays, lush landscapes and a wonderfully welcoming people. Embark on a half-day tour to discover more about its fascinating history, its British colonial heritage and how it came to be the birthplace of rum!
Day 22 – Barbados at leisure
Today is yours to spend as you wish. Relax on a tropical beach, explore more the UNESCO-listed Bridgetown or try a few more varieties of rum.
Days 23 – 25 – Fly Barbados to Australia
Fly home to Australia, arriving home two days later.
