Itinerary
Arrive | Details | Depart | Day 1 | Banff Join your tour group at the hotel. | 12:00 | Day 2 | Banff - Lake Louise Today we tour the outskirts of Banff and visit famous Lake Louise. This is Canada’s best-known lake, renowned for its beautiful setting and magical view of the Victoria Glacier. Enjoy the spectacular surroundings and take a stroll along the waterfront. | Day 3 | Columbia Icefield - Jasper As we journey to Jasper National Park, the stunningly scenic Icefields Parkway takes in over 140 miles of jagged mountain peaks, high forested valleys, emerald lakes and mountain-fed waterfalls. The halfway point is the spectacular Columbia Icefield, one of the biggest accumulations of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. Here, we take an Ice Explorer ride on to the surface of Athabasca Glacier (weather dependent). An experienced driver-guide will lead us and teach us about glaciers and icefields and their importance on our environment. You’ll even have the opportunity to safely step out onto the glacier and stand on the ancient ice. Turning west, we enter Jasper National Park - 4,200 square miles of alpine forests, natural hot springs, white-water rivers, tranquil valleys and jagged snow-capped mountains - and continue to the centre of Jasper town. | Day 4 | Jasper Today we enjoy an unforgettable journey to Maligne Canyon and then to one of the most photographed spots in the world, the breathtaking Maligne Lake. There may be the opportunity for an optional cruise to Spirit Island (weather dependent). This evening we enjoy dinner with an interpretative talk. | Day 5 | Rocky Mountaineer (Jasper - Kamloops) Today we make the first half of perhaps one of the most unforgettable journeys of your life on the Rocky Mountain railroad. Take your seat aboard the famed Rocky Mountaineer and you’ll carve through the Canadian Rockies (glass of wine in hand). Gaze up at snow-capped mountains and watch the region’s finest scenery pass you by from panoramic domed windows. We stop in historic Kamloops for the night; the gateway to the Interior of British Columbia. | Day 6 | Rocky Mountaineer (Kamloops - Vancouver) Our second day aboard Rocky Mountaineer and another exciting journey of stunning vistas awaits us. You’ll see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the interior, through winding river canyons and forests surrounded by peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. This afternoon, we’ll arrive in Vancouver. | Day 7 | Vancouver This morning we’ve arranged a short orientation tour of Vancouver. After this you’re free to explore at leisure. In quaint Gastown you’ll find many interesting shops, cafés and restaurants. Chinatown is well worth a visit to experience the bustle of this exciting area of the city. | Day 8 | Vancouver - Victoria This morning we drive to Tsawwassen to take the ferry through the glorious Gulf Islands region to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island. We continue to the world-famous Butchart Gardens, reclaimed from a limestone quarry in 1904 and now a riot of colour and fragrance covering more than 30 acres. These beautiful gardens have long been one of Vancouver Island’s premier attractions and include rose, Japanese and Italian gardens. Later this afternoon we continue to Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia. | Day 9 | Victoria Today is free for you to explore Victoria and its many attractions, shops and perhaps some of its colonial heritage. The evening offers a chance to sample the range of fine restaurants around the harbour. | Day 10 | Vancouver We leave Victoria behind and drive to Swartz Bay, for the ferry to Tsawwassen and transfer to Vancouver, where you'll say goodbye to your tour group for your onward travel. | 06:00 |
