Day 2 – Carrickfergus – Causeway Coastal Route
This morning, we depart on the Causeway Coastal Route – alongside the glens of Antrim. The first stop is Carrickfergus Castle, one of Northern Ireland’s most striking medieval monuments. We continue to the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway. This geological feat is an unforgettable force of nature, or maybe you’ll choose to believe the myth that this was the handiwork of a local ogre!
Day 3 – Titanic Exhibition – Enniskillen – Athlone
We’ll depart for our excursion to the Titanic Belfast Exhibition to learn the story of the Titanic, from its construction to the infamous maiden voyage. Journeying south, we’ll stop at Enniskillen for a cruise on Lough Erne, home to 160 wooded islands, dotted within hundreds of miles of fresh water. We continue to Athlone.
Day 4 – Cliffs of Moher – Cork
We’ll travel around Liscannor Bay and encounter the rugged Cliffs of Moher rising some 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. This naturally impressive scenery is worth a small diversion as we make our way to Cork.
Day 5 – Blarney Castle – Ring of Kerry
This morning we’ll visit Blarney Castle, a tower house that began its life in the 15th century and is today surrounded by 60 acres of lovely gardens. It’s also home to the fabled Blarney Stone, built into its battlements. We’ll then head west to Killarney National Park, where Ireland’s highest mountains sweep down to the lake shores. We’ll drive on the Ring of Kerry – a 179km route of raw natural beauty and spectacular scenery before returning to the hotel.
Day 6 – Waterford – Dublin
This morning, we depart Cork for Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford, home to the famous crystal glass. We take a look at the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre to learn of its time-honoured trade, before making our way to Dublin, where we’ll spend the next two nights.
Day 7 – Dublin
This morning, we introduce you to the Republic of Ireland’s capital city and visit EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. The rest of the day and evening are free, so why not enjoy one of the many restaurants in Temple Bar and take in the atmosphere of this lively city?
